The 21st century Suzdal, like many other historical cities, is a site of massive yet chaotic archaeological conservation work: excavations, test pits, and observations lacking a common plan and carried out by different teams in different circumstances. To date, the archaeologically explored area of the town within the boundaries of the 18th century has more than doubled compared to the works conducted before 1990. Now this area is at least 9340 sq. m. The researchers summarized new disparate materials from Suzdal using approaches that have demonstrated their effectiveness on equally extensive and diverse exploration materials from rural settlements in Opolye. As a result, it made it possible to elaborate concepts of the urban territory development, as well as the nature and dynamics of urban space development. The materials obtained during the expeditions of the Institute of Archaeology RAS in 2022–2024 allow researchers to verify and replenish observations about the social topography of the medieval town and the everyday life of its dwellers.
