Key words: Novgorod, Ladoga, the Cathedral of the Panteleimon Monastery, Saint Nikolo-Dvorishchensky Cathedral, the Church of the Saviour, the Church on the river Ladoga, Cappadocia, southern apse, wallbarricade.

The article considers the examples of organization of low walls-barricades in southern side apse cathedrals of Novgorod and Novgorod lands of the 12th – the beginning of the 13th cc. – Panteleimon and Nikolo-Dvorishchensky Monasteries, the Church of the Saviour and the Church on the river Ladoga. They can be interpreted as the choir screens situated in the southern parts of the altar. Analogues to them are situated in the cave temples of Cappadocia of the middle Byzantine period. Apparently it could say about a common way for the Byzantine world of the organization of side altars which was spread in Novgorod land.
