The ambivalent pictorial formula of <em>zmeevik<\/em>s ac\u00adcounting for their particular place among medieval amulets is emphasized. The conventionality of identifica\u00adtion of the obverse and reverse sides of <em>zmeevik<\/em>s precludes the distinction of the main and secondary image.
