Keywords: historiography, textile pottery, morphology, technology.

This paper summarizes the study of the so‑called textile imprints on pottery of the Dyakovo and Gorodets Cultures. The investigations of the Bronze Age textile pottery of Eastern Europe and Western Siberia are also touched upon selectively. Three directions of the study are distinguished, i.e. the establishment of morphological traits of the imprints and their systematization; the reconstruction of ways of making imprints; textile imprints as a source of the reconstruction of early plaiting and weaving. Textile pottery is examined as a potential source of the reconstruction of early historical‑cultural processes.
